‘No Kids Choir’ by Louise Ashcroft & Sarah Elena Müller

7 January 2025 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm |  RSVP

Artists Louise Ashcroft and Sarah Elena Müller invite you to welcome in the new year with a ‘No Kids Choir’ social singalong for people who are childfree by choice, childless (not by choice) or “# it’s complicated” at the Swiss Church.

Whatever your position or singing ability, together, we will raucously sing nursery rhymes with lyrics based on Louise’s survey of 180+ people’s experiences of having no kids. The tracks are simple to sing along to; they’re uplifting, melancholy, cathartic and liberating in equal measure.

The nursery rhyme album, ‘No Kids Nursery Rhymes’, was originally recorded with children’s Music Therapist Luzia Studer for the group exhibition ‘Burning Down the House: Rethinking Family’ curated by Melanie Bühler at Kunstmuseum St.Gallen (2024).

The singalong on 7 January will be recorded by a videographer and the resulting footage will be exhibited alongside other works relating to this theme at the Swiss Church, 24-26 January 2025.

Please bring any childfree friends. This is a safe and inclusive space. We will share refreshments and create a caring and playful way to think through complex experiences together. Arrive 6.30pm for 7pm start. Please note this is a free event, please RSVP here.

Curated by Lizzy Drury and Diane Chappalley.

Many thanks to The Swiss Cultural Fund and Goldsmiths University of London for supporting this event and exhibition.
